HiPath Mobile Connect

Delivering on fixed mobile convenience

Fixed Mobile Convenience is central to Siemens' Open Communications strategy, enabling enterprises to communicate and collaborate with any device on any network, in any IT environment. HiPath MobileConnect enables Fixed Mobile Convenience with a truly seamless extension of mobile communications beyond the enterprise walls.

Enabling the use of a single mobile device across networks

HiPath MobileConnect works in conjunction with the corporate SIP PBX and the wireless LAN (WLAN) to enable the use of a single mobile device to communicate on both the local wireless LAN (WLAN) and the public mobile network.

One number, one mailbox and seamless roaming

Siemens is the first to deliver an end-to-end enterprise FMC portfolio with one number and one mailbox functionality. It also enables transparent roaming across all networks, resulting in the industry's most comprehensive extension of enterprise communications into the mobile network.

  • One number service - PBX extension is used for all calls (in and out) - customers/colleagues only need one number to find you
  • One mailbox - PBX mailbox gets all messages (save on cell bill charges as subscribing to all of the features is no longer required) - no more missed messages
  • Roam in / Roam out - calls are automatically and seamlessly bridged between the two networks (wlan and cell) reducing cell minute charges

Increase productivity and reduce costs

With HiPath MobileConnect, users are more reachable and productive, while companies benefit from lower costs and increased management control over mobile communications.

  • Reduced phone tag
  • Easier to contact key colleagues for rapid decision making
  • Cellular bypass - any calls (in or out) that take place while the dual-mode device is within range of the corporate WLAN are effectively "free" - estimates are that between 15% and 40% will fall in this free zone (Frost & Sullivan).
  • Long Distance Trunk Utilisation - Long Distance calls made from cellular network are now routed to PBX and take advantage of corporate trunks
  • Better in building coverage - where cell calls often fade deep inside buildings, WLAN coverage will provide the coverage - fewer dropped calls (think elevators and stairwells, basements)
